The story of Dreamspace Database starts in 2016

Behind the counter of a Taco John’s in Greeley, Colorado, employees and future Drummer Jerry Hardiman and bassist/keyboardist Sid Jackson were trading songs over the store speakers — Jerry queuing up Phish, Sid answering with Papadosio. They quickly discovered a shared love for improvisational, exploratory music. Soon, they were jamming regularly at Jerry’s parents’ house, conveniently located right across the street.

By 2018, that friendship and creative chemistry spilled out into the open air with the launch of Gulch Fest — a grassroots music gathering on a friend’s property. The first year was raw and unpolished: plywood for a stage, scattered pop-ups, a handful of wandering wooks, and music echoing under the stars. But it was alive with the energy of a community creating something together.

Year two brought a full stage, professional production, and more than 25 acts performing across the weekend, with Dreamspace Database playing every night. Over the next few years, Gulch Fest grew into a full-scale festival with two permanent stages and 30+ acts per stage. The festival became a living example of what could happen when creativity, commitment, and community aligned — values that remain at the heart of the band.

In 2021, the festival’s final year, Sid and Jerry met Zach Pepe, a New Jersey native and music theory nerd versed in the sorcery of jam-band masters. Their connection was instant. In 2025, with Gulch Fest a fond memory, Dreamspace Database entered a new era as a trio.

Today, Sid, Jerry, and Zach blend instrumental improvisation, time-bending audio technology, and fearless genre-hopping into a sound that moves between dance-floor funk, soaring rock climaxes, and ambient, psychedelic journeys. Their 2024 full-length album Rendered Real captures their intricate studio craft, while live releases like Vintage Collective 6.14.25 showcase the raw, communal energy that they have grown into.
